The Wolverine star shared the news on Thursday, posting an Instagram photo of his bandaged nose (see right) and explaining to fans what had happened after his wife Deborra-Lee Furness urged him to visit a doctor.
He wrote, “Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a [basal] cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!”
Basal cell carcinomas, typically caused by intense UV exposure, are rarely life-threatening, but can be disfiguring and destructive to tissue if left untreated.
We’re glad to hear Jackman got his checked out.
