Quickly after the reports came out Arsenal denied it and then Atletico Madrid’s Enrique Cerezo said that the news about Cazorla was an ‘invention.’
Today, however, when asked about Arsenal’s midifielder at a press conference, Atletico’s manager, Diego Simeone, rather than dismissing the link decided to go all coy instead.
Simeone said
Kvist and Cazorla? I do not like to talk about individual players. Anything is possible, we will see how the leadership operates on the market.
Our primary objective is to strengthen ourselves.
Regardless of whether or not Atletico do plan to move for Cazorla, he is simply not for sale.
Voted player of the season in his first year at the club, Santi has won over the fans and with Arsenal stating that no big named players would be leaving, it would be shocking [in the true sense, not the tabloid sense] if they decided to sell the tiny playmaker.
Simeone trod a very fine line with his statement. It was just enough to point towards an interest in the player without actually saying anything. If you are not interested in a player, no harm is done in saying you are not interested in him unless you want to use his name to drive through a transfer for another player.
It was mischief making, for what reason I’m not sure, but expect it to go further if the British tabloids fancy playing cheeky monkey. Source: http://gossip.ladyarse.com
